MINUTES  

 

The Akeley City Council met in a special meeting Friday October 3, 2008 at 11:00 am.  Acting Mayor Brian Hitchcock called the meeting to order.  Council members present were Brian Hitchcock, Eric Sjolin and Cliff Johnson.  Frank Lamb was absent.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the Council and attending audience.

 

Brian Hitchcock asked Greg Everett if he wanted the meeting to be open or closed and Greg replied that he wanted the meeting to be open.

 

Brian Hitchcock read a letter of recommendation from Frank Thelin to terminate Greg Everett from the position of Part-Time Maintenance Worker for the City of Akeley.  The Council went over each of the incidents listed in the letter and gave Greg Everett an opportunity to respond. 

 

A CD was played which had a recorded confrontation between Frank Thelin and Greg Everett at City Hall.  Discussion was held between the Council and Greg Everett.  Greg was asked if he could work with Frank Thelin and he replied that he couldn’t.

 

Frank Thelin was asked by the Council if his decision had changed in reference to his request for Greg’s termination.  Frank replied no.

 

Motion by Eric Sjolin seconded by Brian Hitchcock and carried to table a decision until the next council meeting since Greg did not have a resignation letter prepared.

 

Motion by Eric Sjolin seconded by Brian Hitchcock and carried to adjourn.
