I just couldn't believe that a Kietzman finally got ordained into the
Lutheran ministry. I considered a calling seriously in the late 1950s but then
went on to be a writer-journalist-editor. God bless Pastor Kietzman's ministry
to your church. I was raised in the Augustana Synod which became the Lutheran
Church of America and finally the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I
worked in the news bureau of the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva,
Switzerland.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have written a children's book where the plot is played out via the
exchange of postcards between two characters. One character sends postcards
bought at Roadside Attractions in the United States. I wanted to include a
wide array of different destinations / unique Roadside Attractions and thought
a photo (postcard) of your large Paul Bunyan would be of interest to the
reader.
I have a publisher who is interested in the book. We are fine tuning the
details and while no commitment has been made, it would serve the book (and
me) well if I were to collect photo's of the postcards for the book.
Regretfully, I am unable to provide monetary compensation, however I can
provide a credit line, a signing of the book when it's published and of
course, a copy for you. I realize this isn't much, but with the hope this book
will take hold of a child's imagination, I'm also hopeful it will spark them
to make Roadside Attractions a must-do event on family vacations.
Would you be interested in contributing a photograph of Paul Bunyan for the
purpose of publication in a children's book, as outlined here?
I look forward to your response and appreciate your consideration of my
request.
Sincerely,
Lisa Rehfuss

It seems censorship IS alive & well in Akeley!!
How proud you all must be!! Didn't like the comment about your law
enforcement agencies? Just delete it!! Maybe there is a lot of deleting and
editing of many issues in your town. Akeley was a nice town at one time, why
doesn't it ever seem to prosper? Think about it.

I have been camping at Akeley Campgrounds for almost 20 years. It became a
family tradition. However everything has changed. The campground, no more wood
for burning, too many rules. It used to be fun. I mean it still is. It's just
feels crowded for some reason. Anyway~ Can anybody tell me what events are
happening for the 4th of July? I will be going up there July 1st to the 5th.
All I know is that there is a All you can eat Pancakes at the Senior Center.
What about fireworks? I know you can see a few of them go off around the Lake.
Well I am excited to go camping this week. I just can't wait. This time we
will have families up to visit. (Sad, they will only stay for the day).

Been to your town to see my brother and wife, family--ate at the VFW, where at that time Kathy was the cook, very good one! Toured the parks, and surrounding areas, very beautiful would like to come and camp awhile! But the Swansons might be travling, not at home to visit this time!
Can you tell me what ever happened to Shorewood Resort on 11th Crow Wing Lake? We spent many summers there with Bryce "Tom" and Rose Thomas and would just like to know why there is no information on the web on this resort. Thanks
Why are some of you people trashing the site? If you don't have a question or comment, then don't type here.

Akeley is a great town... I love the cafe miel at Em's coffee shop.
one good source for area real estate sales information is-
http://www.parkrapidsenterprise.com/search.cfm?category=400
Is there a place to rent ATV's in the area? Coming up in July and heard you have some awesome trails in the area.
Also anyone know where I can look on line for lots for sale on the lakes in your area?
Akeley is a great town. Its small and cozy. I like that its closer to the bigger towns. However you do need to clean up the older buildings and at least make them presentable, even for the people that drive by threw. Its a beauitful area and tons of things you can do up in the area. Don't forget to CPR on fishing. Save the lakes and quit littering the area with your junk. Pick up after yourselfs and keep it clean.
Keep smiling
hello.
